Meet the Staff

Reid Geiger - General Manager

Reid has been with Minnesota National since 2020. He began last summer as the Events Specialist and Lodging Intern and transitioned into his current position as the General Manager in 2021. Reid enjoys meeting guests, meeting with potential wedding parties, and overseeing the day-to-day operations at Minnesota National. He is looking forward to getting new golf carts this season and seeing progress to the establishment in months/years to come.

James Carlson, PGA - Director of Golf

James has been the Director of Golf Operations at Minnesota National since 2016. He has prior experiences in management & maintenance, at other successful establishments. He is excited for all the new growth coming to Minnesota National including the new ownership, management, and vision. James has been a Golf Professional for 33 years, and 21 years as a Head Golf Professional. He was also voted Dakota Chapter Minnesota Section PGA Facility Promoter of the Year 2009.

Chad Weise, PGA - Head Golf Professional

Chad has been Minnesota National’s Head Golf Professional since 2020. He began working in the golf industry in 2000 and became an Assistant Golf Professional in 2003. He then went on to become a Head Golf Professional in 2018. Chad’s main goal is to make our guests’ experience at Minnesota National to be the best it can be. Chad works with staffing, merchandise, leagues, and backend work with our scoring system. He enjoys enhancing customers’ experiences in the game of golf

Savanna Johnson - Bar Manager

Savanna has been the Bar Manager and head bartender at Minnesota National since 2021. She has previously worked at previous bar establishments in Wisconsin. This is her first position in a golf course setting, and she is excited about all the opportunities it will bring. Savanna enjoys meeting new people, hearing customer/staff stories, and assisting in making weddings special. Savanna is looking forward to improving food and beverage and enhancing the restaurant experience of our customers.

Brandon Popp - Superintendent

Brandon has been the Course Superintendent since 2013 and before that, he was the Assistant Superintendent at Minnesota National from 2008-2010. He has a degree in Turf Management from Anoka Tech. Brandon handles everything in regards to maintenance outside of the clubhouse. He enjoys customer feedback and is very staff-oriented. He is looking forward to improving the golf course experience of our customers and seeing what the golf course will become.

Brynn Popp - Course Mascot

Brynn holds a special position here at Minnesota National Golf Course. Her owner, Superintendent Brandon Popp takes her to work with him each day. Brynn has various jobs including, chasing the geese off the course, riding on the maintenance cart, and greeting members out on the course. Brynn loves coming to work each day to be with staff and members. She is extremely friendly and loves to be around people.

Maitelyn Knudsen - Head of Housekeeping

Maitelyn has been the head of housekeeping at Minnesota National since 2011. She enjoys everything about her position and is excited to be able to continue to improve the functioning of the Golf Course. She is looking forward to revamping the housekeeping department as well as hiring more help so she can expand her department.

Jeff Flaherty - Food & Beverage Manager

Jeff has been Minnesota National’s Head Chef since 2021. In 2001 he achieved his FMP (Food Management Professional) and CFPM (Certified Food Protection Manager). He has previous experiences working with Burger King, Olive Garden, and Buffalo Wild Wings. Jeff also owned his own restaurant Red Dog Billy’s from 2005-2010 in Pine City, MN. He is excited to help execute the vision of the new ownership, developing hard-working people, and seeing Minnesota National succeed.
